Germany - Berlin

City News Q1/2010 Berlin

Very good result despite difficult environment

With take-up of 107,000 m2 in Q1, the Berlin office market exceeded its prior-year result by around 39 %. The last time it achieved a similarly high turnover was in 2005 (109,000 m2). Demand focused in particular on premises upwards of 1,000 m2; these accounted for over 70 % of overall take-up. The city centre attracted 51 % of all demand, while the Top City generated only relatively little turnover, with just over 17 %. Demand was fuelled above all by three business sectors. Information and communications technologies accounted for more than 20 % of aggregate turnover, the administrations of industrial companies for 19.5 %, and other services for around 17 %.
