City News Q1/2010 Munich

Take-up higher

With take-up of 143,000 m2 in Q1, the Munich office market improved on its prior-year result by almost 12 %. It is especially notable that this result was achieved despite a very low proportion of large-unit leases: premises of more than 10,000 m2 made up only just over 8 % of turnover. In contrast, lively demand was evident particularly in the mid-range size categories. The biggest turnover was generated by the city centre, with 27,000 m2 (19 %), followed by Region North, with 21,500 m2 (15 %) and centre fringe south, with 20,500 m2 (14 %). Demand was fuelled especially by information and communications technology firms and consultancies. Each of these sectors contributed around 19 % to the total.
