Take-up at record level
In the first half of 2011, the Cologne office market set a new record, with turnover of 173,000 m˛ – nearly 97 % up on the prior-year figure. Following a comparatively restrained first quarter (34,000 m˛), Q2 produced several large-unit leases to fuel this outstanding result. By themselves, the deals concluded by RheinEnergie AG and Lanxess AG generated all of 83,000 m˛. In addition, there has been lively demand in the smaller and mid-range size classes. The headquarters of industrial companies finished out in front with more than 48 % of all take-up, but other services also registered a high turnover again (around 12 %).
