Demand buoyant as year begins
At 68,000 m², take-up of logistics space in Frankfurt in Q1 posted a marked rise of 39 % on the same period in 2010 and was also the best result of recent years. So here, too, the dynamic development of the economy has exerted a positive influence on logistics markets. An exceptional contribution to the good performance was made by large lettings of over 8,000 m²; these accounted for nearly 69 % of all turnover. But demand was also lively in the field of smaller units, too. The business-sector ranking was dominated by logistics firms, which registered more than 82 % of all take-up. In second place came industrial companies, with just under 15 % of the total, whereas commerce (wholesale/retail) started the year very reticently, achieving a share of only around 3 %.
