What is striking about the economic news coverage
of recent weeks is the rather non-homogenous
picture it paints. Despite a serious recession,
many soft indicators such as the Ifo business
climate index and the ZWE index forecast a
positive shift in trend: The only thing that seems
to be controversial anymore is the onset of recovery
and of slight economic growth specifically,
whether it will come in late 2009 or in early 2010.
The majority of commentators agree, however,
that a careful consolidation is imminent.
