Property Report Investment Market in Germany 2011

Investment turnover of almost 20 billion euros

Investment in commercial property in Germany in 2010 totalled around 19.6 bn € and thus only just failed to reach the 20 billion € threshold. This is nevertheless an outstanding result, which was about 85 % up on the prior-year figure. The surge in the investment markets already evident in the first half of the year not only continued but actually accelerated: in the final quarter, more than 6 bn € was invested. By long-term standards, too, the transaction volume was very high, reaching a level only slightly under that achieved in 2005 and 2008.
