COMFORT wins the Immobilienmanager Award 2010

It comprises a leased area of around 9,950 square metres on three floors which was previously leased by SinnLeffers. The new tenant is the Görgens Group. The COMFORT Group's Leipzig office was responsible for setting up and concluding a contract of lease between the owner, Commerz Real AG, and the Görgens Group in only eight weeks.

COMFORT Berlin-Leipzig GmbH's Managing Director, Alexander Folz, was clearly delighted to receive the award at the presentation ceremony in Cologne. "We don't arrange this kind of a lease contract every day," said Folz. He continued to say that he was naturally very proud to receive the award, but believed it is an even greater achievement that the COMFORT Group has advanced in a very short time to market leader in the former eastern German states after opening the Leipzig office in 2007. Now he is looking forward to developing and marketing the Merkurhaus at the end of Petersstrasse, which has also been placed in COMFORT's hands. "Perhaps we'll see you again in Cologne next year," said Folz, smiling.

Petershof was originally built as an exhibition building in 1927. For over 70 years, it was also known as the Capitol cinema which screened its films there. In 2006, after extensive refurbishment, textile company SinnLeffers took out a lease on the building at Petersstrasse 20 in Leipzig's city centre. The complex leased area has a listed foyer which is around 15 metres long and runs into the former exhibition building's and, later on, the cinema's inner courtyard. The shop window facade and the stairway in the area formerly leased by SinnLeffers also have great historic value. All floors are connected with first-rate escalators and lifts. Petershof is one of the most famous buildings in Leipzig's city centre. Behind the historic facade, STRABAG developed a modern new building with retail units, individual office units and attractive residential units. This impressive combination of historical elements and a modern new building makes Petershof a major point of interest in the highly frequented Leipzig pedestrian zone on Petersstrasse.

The Görgens Group has already opened a KULT store on the ground floor. The conversion work on the first floor has already commenced. Some of the units on the first and second floors will be leased as concession shops. COMFORT Leipzig is also involved in this. The building's owner is Commerz Real AG, a full subsidiary of Commerzbank AG. With assets under management of 43 billion euro, it is one of the world's biggest property asset managers.

The Görgens Group sells fashion textiles under the Steinbruch, KULT and Olymp & Hades labels. In 1979, Berthold Görgens took over the company that his father had founded in 1948 in the Cologne district of Wahn, together with its five employees, and developed it into one of Germany's biggest multi-label chain store operators. The group has around 1,000 employees and currently operates 83 stores.
