Commerz Real Acquires Logistics Property in Kerpen

Commerz Real just acquired the WEG Logistics Centre in Kerpen, Germany, for one of its specialised funds. The total investment volume for the property, which extends over a gross lettable area of about 14,500 sqm, approximates 11.3 million Euros. The property was sold by M.H. Zweite Grundinvest Gesellschaft mbH, a property company belonging to Alcaro Invest GmbH, which is a logistics project developer based in Rösrath. BNP Paribas Real Estate GmbH facilitated the transaction.

“The WEG Logistics Center is located in the Türnich trading estate of Kerpen, a city located in Rhine-Erft County, the county with the highest economic power in North Rhine-Westphalia,” said Hans-Joachim Kühl, Member of the Board of Commerz Real AG and in charge of real estate acquisitions. “Türnich has an excellent infrastructure. With its manifold connections to the dynamic Rhine-Ruhr region and its proximity to major transhipment centres such as the Eifeltor freight centre in Cologne or the inland port of Duisburg, the location is very much in demand among distribution companies. In this sense, WEG Logistics Centre is superbly positioned.”

The modern high-end logistics property is defined by a highly flexible floor plan so that it could be partitioned into several sections as needed. The property is let to WEG Germany GmbH, a globally active provider of integrated technology solutions in the areas of electric motors, automation, drives and energy with headquarters in Brazil.
