Berlin: • Königsquartier to be fitted with geothermal system
• 70 percent of the units marketed one year ahead of completion
Following the great marketing success of Choriner Höfe in Berlin’s Mitte district, the Berlin-based project developer Diamona & Harnisch is realising another residential project featuring a sustainable geothermal system on a development site of around 9,000 square metres at Königstrasse 40 in Berlin’s Zehlendorf district. Five new townhouses and one historic mansion with altogether 43 residential units will deliver a total residential floor area of about 4,800 square metres. The project, which has a total investment volume of approximately 14 million Euros, is implemented in collaboration with the Klaus Theo Brenner architectural firm.
The condominiums will range in size between 90 and 238 square metres, and cost anywhere between 3,430 and 5,000 Euros per square metre. The first stage of construction is expected to be completed as early as summer of 2012, while the overall completion is scheduled for late 2012. The project units have already been sold to 70 percent.
After Choriner Höfe, it is the second project by Diamona & Harnisch that features a geothermal systems, and simultaneously, after the completely sold Fichtenberg Carré, the company’s second building project in the borough of Steglitz-Zehlendorf. “What makes Königsquartier a sought residential location is not just the quiet, green neighbourhood with its superb transportation access close to the inner city,” argued Alexander Harnisch, Managing Partner of Diamona & Harnisch Berlin Development GmbH, to explain the keen interest among buyers. “The estate’s appeal is primarily due to its high-end and forward-looking architecture and fit-out, as well as to its state-of-the-art heat supply that includes the use of geothermal energy. The status of renewable energy within our society is steadily rising. For our target clientele, which has a high level of awareness, a geothermal system therefore represents a decisive criterion for buying.”
